My is Ana T. I was born in August 1978. Totally normal I was able to walk, talk, jump and see just fine. It was in November 2001 when I realized I couldn’t see and was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma, a benign brain tumor as big as a golf ball, that was pressuring my visual nerve. I needed surgery.
I went to the Massachusetts general hospital on February 18 of 2002. My surgeon clips my carotid artery causing a major stroke. I couldn't move the left side of my body. Suddenly I was in a wheelchair. I used my right arm and right leg so when nobody was helping me, I would go in circles like a dog chasing its own tail.
Even thought my prognosis wasn’t good I was able regain movement in my left leg. However, my left arm is still paralyzed and I’m still legally blind which means I have no peripheral vision.
I was an independent person almost graduating from Physiology. My life changed completely. Now I love to work in crafts, teach small kids, listen to music, and Netflix . When I dream, I am an artistic swimmer.
